Membership Options In late August 2002, a parade of tall ships will grace San Francisco Bay to mark the beginning of a six-day tall ship festival. American Sail Training Association's (ASTA) Tall Ships Challenge 2002 will feature 5 ports on the west coast. We expect over 10 class A square-rigged ships from foreign countries in addition to countless class B and C vessels from the US and abroad. This event promises to include as many as 100 vessels and to be the largest gathering of tall ships in San Francisco Bay since 1849! Already our team of volunteers is working diligently with ASTA, San Francisco officials, and naval tall ships from around the world to ensure our success. Your Support NOW is Vital. To continue, we NEED your help! Your purchase of a membership, or gift of any amount, both tax-deductible, will help us especially at this time build the infrastructure we need to plan and coordinate this event. We need to hire staff, attract and train more volunteers, work with Ambassadors and Naval Attaches in Washington DC, solicit more funding at the private, corporate, city and state levels, and much more. In other words, plan, plan, plan. Your dollars will not only help bring a spectacular maritime event to SF Bay, they will help to build international friendships, support leadership programs for youth under sail and to create international goodwill. Thank you for helping to ensure the successful arrival of the tall ships in late August 2002. Your support launches an event that will enhance the Bay Area's reputation as a friendly port for mariners from all over the world. I personally appreciate your support at this critical time. Sincerely, |
